Is Google Spying on Me?
After watching a music video, YouTube suggested a tutorial to demonstrate makeup techniques for "mature eyes."
Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about Google suggesting my eyes need a new paint job. The "before" picture of the woman on the thumbnail appeared comparable to my "before" image in the mirror. But her "after" picture looked like she had pushed the hands on the clock back twenty years. Maybe I don't need to settle for adding the modifier "for my age" after "I look good." Intrigued, I got comfy and hit "play" to learn how I, too, could impersonate a younger woman.
Eight Steps to More Youthful Looking Eyes
The video's instructor developed and sells the cosmetics she uses in the tutorial. Fair enough.
First step: eye moisturizer. I own and occasionally use the aforementioned lotion. Note to self: if I used it daily, my eyes might appear less mature.
Next: eye primer. Huh. I thought that was something used when painting cars, but alright.
Then: eye concealer. Wait, shouldn't the primer conceal unflattering lines and dark circles? Seems like I should need primer or concealer, not both.
Now, onto eyeshadow. Not just one color, mind you. Two. This was quickly getting out of hand.
Then came eyeliner. Disclaimer: I can't draw a straight line, so how am I supposed to master this step?
Next up: eyebrow pencil. Again, problematic for someone whose attempts at a straight line look like they were drawn during a magnitude 7.0 earthquake.
And, of course, mascara. I am an old pro at mascara. The only problem is if I blink before it dries, which is about half the time.
Final step: finishing spray. Pretty sure I would not want to "set" my cosmetic artistry.
After thirty minutes, the instructor looked beautiful, but I'm out. A minimum fuss gal, I'm simply not going to:
buy nine products at approximately $150 just for my eyes
spend 3.125% of my waking hours applying makeup to my whole face, much less just my eyes
Let's Make Mature Eyes the New Beauty Trend
Look at the scripture I found, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14 NIV
I'm going to rejoice that I am a "wonderful" work of the Father. Since He sees me as wonderful, who am I to try to improve on His craftsmanship?
You, too, were "wonderfully created" by the Master. You are beautiful! And don't forget it!
Blessings,
Angela
